Trouble Logging In?
The login system still has a few quirks which are on the list to be fixed, chief among which is the redisplay of the same login page after successful login via the "Check Your Account" or direct "Log In" options in the Members section. When it is fixed you should instead either get your member profile or a welcome page confirming successful login. If you got a login box because you requested member only material, you will be served the requested page upon successful login (this is working properly).
In all cases you should see the Welcome "Guest User" phrase in the bottom left corner of the web site header switch to Welcome "Login Name" if the login name and password you entered are valid. If you know you are entering the correct login name and password (for example, you obtained them using the Forgot your Password email feature), briefly see a page declaring "Click here or wait a few seconds", which is followed by redisplay of the Log In page as if your login effort failed (the above quirk I am waiting to have fixed), and the header still displays "Welcome Guest User", your login is failing because your browser has a privacy setting which has disabled your computer's ability to accept a cookie from KaiserBottomfish.com. The Four Step Procedure below will fix this problem.
The solution: You can set your Internet Explorer 6 browser to allow cookies specifically for KaiserBottomfish.com without disturbing your privacy settings as they apply to all other sites. Here are the instructions on how to enable cookies so that you can log onto Kaiser Bottomfish.com:
Should you encounter log in related problems at any other sites you can fix the problem by repeating this procedure.
When you print a page at Kaiser Bottom-Fish Online you may notice that the right side is cut off even though everything fits nicely on your monitor screen.
This happens when the width of a graphic such as a stock chart plus the page margins is greater than the printable width of a standard 8 by 11 inch piece of paper. The default left and right margins for the Internet Explorer browser are set at 0.75 inches. We could solve this problem by shrinking our charts and graphics so that they fit the printable page, but we cannot do this with the stock charts, which are generated by third party software. So, to make Kaiser Bottom-Fish Online pages print properly, you must adjust the Page Setup settings in your browsers to 0.4 inches for the left and right margins.
Use the Print this Page button if available: For best printing results use the Print this Page button if it is displayed. Doing so will create a page specially formatted for printing which will force graphics to be printed on a new page rather than half on one page and the other half on the next page. When the Print this Page button is not available, as is the case with profiles, use the browser's print button.
A new problem created by the solution if you use Outlook Express: After you set your browser margins to 0.4 inches, you will find that email messages printed through Outlook Express will have tight margins. All other software, including Outlook, have their own Page Setup settings, and are not affected by this problem. If the tight print margins for your email messages are an unbearable nuisance, you should return the browser's Page Setup left and right margins to the default 0.75 inches. Temporarily set the margins to 0.4 inches only when you need to print a Tracker or Profile or any page where you can see a stock or IPV chart.
